Corner of Church St and Market St Wollongong 8am, 9:30am, 11am, 5pm & 7pm each Sunday
In February, our Mission of the Month giving is directed to Anglicare Community Services. Some of will know that 2016 saw the merger of the old Anglicare with ARV (Anglican Retirement Villages). This was to create greater scale to navigate an increasingly complex welfare and aged care world. Donations to Anglicare express the love of Christ. The new organisation kept the name Anglicare and its new statement of purpose reads as follows:
We exist to serve people in need in our community, enrich lives and share the love of Jesus.
We hold true to our Christian motivation while responding to meet the changing needs of our community.
We seek to promote and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ as we love and serve those who are ageing, vulnerable or marginalised; respecting and valuing every person as made in the image of the living God.
We offer life-enriching care and compassion for each person, meeting material, physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs.
In partnership with parishes and others, we provide a range of services that promotes dignity, safety, participation and wellbeing for people in their relationships, homes and communities.
Anglicare’s services across the Sydney and Illawarra include residential, respite and home-based aged care, retirement villages, refugee services, counselling, family relationship services, emergency relief, chaplaincy in aged care, hospitals, prisons and juvenile justice, and social policy research and advocacy work and still more!
No Parish Council in January, so instead a staffing summary for 2017 (no notable changes):
Also Jodi Moore – cleaner (6 hours/wk), Jodie Madry – COW Creche (3 hours/wk), and casual wedding vergers & organists.
