Mission Update

In April, Mission of the Month giving is directed to Moore College, and to Anglican Aid for their Overseas Ministry Fund.

Moore College’s vision longs “to see faithful, thoughtful and biblical ministry which honours the Lord Jesus Christ in all the world.” They go on to state, “We enable men and women to deepen their knowledge of God, through higher education in the field of theology.” There are also post-graduate study and in-service training options, as well as their excellent suite of distance education options for Christians around the world.

It has been such a privilege to have the entire student and faculty body serving our local church mission purposes across the region served by the Anglican Bishop of Wollongong this last week. By their energy and commitment, by their preaching and personal conversations, they have given a real boost to our month “Jesus Is _____.” conversations. . I have come to expect good standards of biblical understanding and preaching from Moore students and graduates. But the thing that has impressed me most is what good listeners they have been, and their effort in talking to people of all backgrounds.

Funds from Anglican Aid’s Overseas Ministry Fund provide subsidies for African men and women from nations like Tanzania, South Africa, Egypt and Zimbabwe, to train at evangelical Bible colleges, mainly in their own cultural contexts. Anglican Aid’s Waterworks is tax deductible (and we raised over $2400 recently), but this is not.

Many of these students are already pastors of Anglican congregations but they have had little education and no opportunity for formal Bible college training. For as little as a dollar a day we can help train tomorrow’s evangelists, pastors and teachers across Africa to plant and grow churches and bring the message of Jesus to a new generation.

Parish Council Update
  • Joe Radkovic reported on the 11am Easy English Congregation as we approach its first anniversary… a great core team, an average of ~70 in attendance each week, and a desire to make our English even easier!
  • We noted the many events and activities scheduled for the month of “Jesus Is _____.” conversations
  • The AGM is scheduled for Monday 9th April. Please consider nominations.
  • We noted the air conditioner has been installed in the admin office as promised.
  • We noted with appreciation two significant bequests of $5000 each in recent months, and expect the Wardens will bring a proposal for potentially renovating the office foyer kitchenette as a result.
  • It is worth noting that we always review any safety incidents over the past month, and also ensure that twice yearly WH&S meetings are held with church staff.
  • We approved expenses related to team expenses of the two men’s and two women’s St Michael’s church soccer teams. (Players pay their individual rego fees.)
