Dear Church Family,
This year I am volunteering to work as the new Church Life Coordinator at St Michael’s. I’ll be working one day a week (every second Friday) and scattered hours over the other week. My role is to help encourage rich relationships within our church community.
Jesus said, “I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends” (John 15:15). Friendship matters to Jesus, and so does our love for one another. He tells us that through our love, the world will know that we are His disciples. Our relationships within the church are not just for our own benefit, but also a witness to the world of Jesus’ love. The Bible goes even further and calls the church a family and the bride of Christ. My aim is to enrich our relationships as friends, family and the bride of Christ
What’s Happening Already?
By God’s grace, some exciting ministries are already in motion:
- A Bible Study group in another language will start in February.
- A Mums and Bubs group is launching in March (praise God for so many babies!).
- A Women’s event and a Young Adults ministry are also in the works (see the flyer below for details!).
Other groups may form later in the year, depending on God’s provision and the needs of our church.
How Will This Happen?
Since I’m only working one day a week, I won’t be able to be doing this alone. I need your help! My hope is to work together with many of you, with some committing long-term to certain ministries and others helping with one-off projects. In this way, we can all play a part in building the body of Christ.
Some wonderful people are already stepping up:
- Mina (5pm) and Diana (11:30am) will lead the new Bible study group.
- Nic (5pm) is leading the Mums and Bubs group.
- Kerry (5pm) and Tash (7pm), with a team of helpers, are organising the first Women’s event and Young Adults gathering with me.
How You Can Get Involved
I really can’t do this alone, and I’d love to hear from anyone interested in helping – whether in an existing ministries or in something new God may put on your heart.
Since I also have another job, I may not always be able to reply to phone calls or messages immediately so please be patient with me. The best way to reach me about church matters is through my new email: churchlife@wollongonganglican.org.
I look forward to hearing from you and serving alongside you as we seek to grow in Christ together.
In Christ,
Michelle Read (5pm)
Church Life Coordinator
