Easter

Everyone wants life change. When we choose to follow Jesus, life change becomes more than a desire, it becomes reality.

This Easter, we’d love to introduce you to the man whose life and death changed the course of human history: Jesus Christ. Come and hear from the Bible about God’s great rescue plan for the world…

‘God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son. Anyone who believes in him will not die but will have eternal life.’
(John 3:16, NIRV)

We’d love to see you at the following service times…

Maundy Thursday, 18 April

7:00pm – Holy Communion

The name ‘Maundy Thursday’ comes from a commandment Jesus made on the Thursday before his crucifixion (to love one another as he loved us!). So Maundy Thursday means the “Thursday of the Commandment.” Read more here.

Good Friday, 19 April

8:00am – Traditional Service

9:30am – Family Service

11:00am – Easy English Service

Good Friday is the day Christians pause to remember Jesus’ crucifixion and death at Calvary. We will remember with gratitude how Jesus died for our sins and in our place. Each service will be followed by morning tea, including Hot Cross Buns! Our 9:30am and 11am services will be suitable for children.

Easter Sunday, 21 April

8:00am – Holy Communion

9:30am – Family Service

11:00am – Easy English Service

6:00pm – All Ages Celebration

We’d love you to join us on Easter Sunday as we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ! He is no longer dead, but was raised to life as the King – never to die again. Today we celebrate that his tomb is empty and that new life is possible for us because of his resurrection.

Each service will be followed by morning tea, including some yummy Easter eggs! Our 9:30am, 11am and 6pm services are all suitable for children.

Crack on with us after Easter…

St Michael’s is a beautiful cathedral to visit at Easter, but we’re also a community to belong to. We meet each week to listen to the Bible, share our lives and support one another as we follow Jesus. Read our mission and vision here.

We also run a wide range of weekly community events and classes, from English classes on Tuesday mornings, to Kids’ Club for children in years K-6 at school on Thursday afternoons.

If you want to find out more about following Jesus, why not join our next Simply Christianity course or ‘Jesus is why’ Bible talks in May.
