Everything we have comes from God, and the Bible encourages us to use God’s good gifts to honour him. That’s why every year at St Michael’s we celebrate ATD to express our thankfulness for what God has done through Christ (2 Corinthians 8: 7 & 9, 13-15; 1 John 3:16-18); our gratitude for the great gospel ministry here; and to give financially to projects and Christian ministries outside St Michael’s to bless others.
ATD presents an opportunity to bless others beyond our normal giving, beyond our local parish, and beyond those with the ability to bless us back.
ATD typically falls on the last Sunday of September in line with ‘St Michael’s Day’. This year, our Annual Thanksgiving Day is Sunday, 20 September.
On the day we’ll hear a little about each of the mission organisations, people and organsations we’re going to support.
Over the following three Sundays after ATD, we will hear a special mission update from our ATD project recipients, and there will be opportunities to pray or give (as you are able) towards the ATD gift projects.
From 20 September and during the month of October, you can get involved by expressing your thankfulness to the Lord through prayer, or by giving towards our ATD projects. This year we have divided our projects into four distinct categories: Relational, Next Generation, Word Beyond, and Vulnerable.
* Note: 100% of gifts for this appeal go towards projects or ministries outside of our church.
