Take A Mate

About ‘Take a Mate’

Jesus Club is a loving community for adults with intellectual disabilities, where people feel safe and valued. We run Jesus Club because we believe everyone matters to God!

‘Take A Mate’ is a promotion organised by Jesus Club, designed to promote inclusion and support for individuals with intellectual disabilities.

From Friday 20th to Thursday 26 September, we’re inviting community members to take a mate with an intellectual disability to one of eight participating cafés to enjoy a free coffee, hot chocolate or milk shake. Our aim is to highlight the benefits in including people in our community with an intellectual disability, in our day to day life and social groups.

It’s a collaborative effort aimed at fostering connections and creating welcoming spaces for all.

Illawarra Dragons

“Many in our community struggle to find meaningful connections and community. How much more challenging is it for people living with an intellectual disability? So let's grab a mate, grab a coffee together and get amongst it.”
