In June about 40 women and two babies gathered together at our Corrimal Church to be part of the EQUIP Women’s conference. The teaching was on the second part of Revelation – chapters 6-22.

It was a day of feasting! Hearing God’s Word read and explained by three speakers, women from different St Michael’s congregations sharing fellowship and conversations, delicious food to physically feed us and spiritual encouragement from the Bible, relevant for us today and in the future.

Di Warren spoke to us on Revelation chapters 6-8 and said although God will judge everyone when they die, God’s people are safe because we have His Holy Spirit dwelling in us. Jesus, the lamb of God, died in our place and we are with God now and forever. Revelation has symbolic pictures, numbers and colours; there are scrolls, seals, war horses and beasts but the underlying message is for us to be faithful and follow God.

We are comforted that God has delayed judgement day so more people can come to know and follow Jesus. We were reminded of Romans 8:31b “If God is for us, who can be against us?”.

Caitlin Orr spoke on Revelation chapters 12-14 and reminded us we are in a spiritual war. The dragon depicts Satan who tried to kill the baby but did not succeed. This baby symbolises Jesus who rules alongside God. Again we were encouraged to be faithful, follow Jesus and our reward will be great.

Annabel Nixey completed the talks and warned us that we are living in the equivalent of Babylon; we should not be attracted by this materialistic world but keep our spiritual lives strong. Annabel concluded by saying the book of Revelation shows not what matters but who matters – Jesus.
